The Cocoon Project is a NYC-based collaborative that documents and performs the hand-crafted Cocoons with dancers, video projections, sound and music in site-specific performance-installations. The Cocoon is a sheer, stretchy enclosure made of colorful spandex and a zipper. Movement is based in yoga and expressive, creaturely dance. The fabric enclosure provides freedom for the performer/muse to become a morphing sculpture. Structurally, these postures represent a scale model of an architecture and materiality based on the forces of the body.

The 1-day collaborative performance residency invites a collection of artists to create pieces live with the Cocoon Project in inter-disciplinary, multi-sensory mediums of performance, video projection mapping, animation and experimental sound from electronic and traditional instruments. Additionally there will be an interactive panel discussion in regards to the current, groundbreaking state of "performance art" featuring organizers and artists crucial in implementing the Brooklyn International Performance Art Festival.
